The F4-425 Plus pairs an Intel N150 quad-core CPU with 16GB of DDR5 RAM and hardware transcode support, so it has the horsepower to push real throughput out of an all-SSD array rather than bottlenecking on the CPU first. With 2x 5GbE network ports, a RAID5 pool of four SATA SSDs can genuinely saturate one or both links for large file transfers, something a spinning-disk RAID5 array on this chassis would struggle to match consistently.

Because this model has three separate M.2 NVMe slots dedicated to cache or storage pools, you are not sacrificing anything by putting SSDs in the four main SATA bays. NVMe can handle read/write caching or a separate fast pool for VMs, while the SATA bays give you the bulk of your usable capacity in RAID5, RAID6 or RAID10.
