UGREEN DH2300 Drive Compatibility Guide 2026 (UK)

Three sensible picks for the DH2300

With two bays and a 32TB per-bay limit (64TB raw total), you have plenty of room to choose on price or endurance rather than capacity. These three cover the range from budget NAS drive to enterprise-grade reliability.

Which drive should you fit

What fits the DH2300

The DH2300 takes standard 3.5in SATA hard drives in both bays, and it'll also happily run 2.5in SATA SSDs with a bracket if you want a quieter, lower-power build, though at these bay counts most buyers fit hard drives for capacity. Because the drive policy is open, you're not restricted to a manufacturer whitelist. Any of the drives in this list, from the budget IronWolf through to the Exos and Ultrastar enterprise ranges, will be recognised and will work in RAID0, RAID1, JBOD or as a Basic single volume.

There are no M.2 NVMe slots on this chassis at all, so any NVMe SSD you might already own simply has nowhere to go here. That's not an oversight in this review, it's how UGREEN built the DH2300: it's a pure SATA, HDD-first two-bay unit aimed at capacity and value rather than an SSD-cached tiered-storage design. If NVMe caching or NVMe-first storage matters to you, you'd need to look at a different model in the NASync range with dedicated M.2 slots.
